Ground Transportation Information

Hotel and Private Parking shuttles operate on the Lower/Arrivals Level only

Several modes of ground transportation operate at LAX to facilitate the movement of passengers and visitors to and from the airport.

To help lessen vehicle traffic congestion in the Central Terminal Area, LAX also has a 24-hour LAX Cell Phone Waiting Lot where motorists meeting arriving passengers can wait for free until passengers call to say they are ready to be picked up terminal curbside. No commercial vehicles or ride-service vehicles are allowed in the Cell Phone Waiting Lot.

LAX Shuttle & Airline Connection

Due to airport-related construction, please expect and plan for increased travel times

Frequent, courtesy shuttle service is provided between terminals to assist travelers in getting from one terminal to another for airline connections (A Route). Shuttles also transport passengers to and from Employee Parking lots). Shuttle service is also provided to and from the Metro Rail Green Line Aviation Station (G Route). To use our shuttle service, travelers should board the LAX Shuttle under the LAX Shuttle & Airline Connections blue sign on the Lower/Arrivals Level islands in front of each terminal.

Passengers should board the Parking Lot  Shuttle on the Lower/Arrivals Level.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Shuttle Routes:

A Transports passengers between terminals. "A" route operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and runs every 10 minutes.
E Transports passengers to and from Economy Parking Lot E. Passengers are dropped off/picked-up at the Blue LAX Shuttle Zones on the lower level roadway only (arrival level). "E" route operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and runs every 15 to 20 minutes.

Transports passengers between airport terminals and the Metro Green Line Aviation Station. Service is aligned with the rail schedule. To view, please go to and please click here for Green line Boarding Procedures. TAP card is not required to board the G Shuttle from the airport terminals to Aviation/LAX station. However, the TAP card is required when you take the G Shuttle from Aviation/LAX station to the airport.

Hotel & Parking Lot Shuttles

Many major airport-area hotels and privately operated parking lots provide courtesy transportation from LAX terminals.

Stops for shuttles for hotels are located on the Lower/Arrivals Level islands in front of each terminal under the red sign Hotel Shuttles.

Public Transportation

Free shuttle bus service is provided from the Metro Green Line Aviation Station. Passengers wishing to use this shuttle bus service should wait under the LAX Shuttle & Airline Connections sign on the Lower/Arrivals Level islands in front of each terminal, and board the "G" Shuttle.

Car Rental Depot Service

Effective April 1, 2019, the Green Line shuttle (operated by ABM Aviation) will stop servicing the passenger drop-off at the car rental depot on Century Blvd.  This service will be handled by the new Economy Lot E ‘Economy Lot’ shuttle bus operated by LAZ Parking. The LAZ parking and shuttle manager may be reached via email at [email protected].

Information on city bus services is available by telephone on the Information Display Board in the baggage claim area in each terminal. In addition, passengers can obtain local transit information by calling 323.GO.METRO or 323.466.3876.

Stops for shuttles for Economy Lot E and the City Bus Center are located at the Lower/Arrivals Level Blue LAX Shuttle Zones.

Other public bus authorities serving LAX are Culver City Bus Lines, Santa Monica Big Blue Bus, and Torrance Transit. (Click on each bus line name for contact information.) Passengers can pick up these buses at the LAX City Bus Center.

Rental Cars

Hotel & Parking Lot Shuttle 

Rental Car offices are located off airport, away from airline terminals. The following rental car companies are authorized to pick-up and drop-off their customers at the airline terminals using courtesy shuttles. These companies meet arriving customers under the purple Rental Car Shuttles sign on the Lower/Arrivals Level islands outside baggage claim.


On October 5, 2017, the Board of Airport Commissioners adopted Resolution 26357 authorizing the collection of an alternative Customer Facility Charge of $7.50 per day for up to 5 days (and up to $9.00 per day in the future) at LAX for rental car transactions on behalf of the airport to fund costs associated with the financing, design and construction of a consolidated rental facility and financing, design, construction and operation of a common transportation system serving the facility. To comply with the requirements of California Government Code Sections 50474.21, 50474.22, and 50474.3, LAWA completed an independent audit. The auditor’s report can be found here.

Remote Rental Car Depot Service

The following rental car companies are required to meet customers at the Remote Rental Car Depot located at the intersection of Century and Airport Boulevards. Customers should board the Economy Lot E shuttle bus operated by LAZ Parking which stops under the blue LAX Shuttle Airline Connection sign.

The following scheduled buses provide service from LAX to various parts of Los Angeles and some surrounding regions. Passengers are encouraged to contact the companies first for more information. These buses pick up passengers on the Lower/Arrival Level islands in front of each terminal under the sign FlyAway, Buses & Long Distance Vans. Always confirm that you are getting in the correct operator’s vehicle.

  • Santa Barbara Airbus - Travels to Santa Barbara, plus nearby Goleta and Carpinteria. The drive to these areas (located northwest of LAX, along the sea coast) from  the airport usually takes  between one and a half to  two hours.

Both Super Shuttle and Roadrunner provide shared ride service at LAX.

  • Super Shuttle picks up passengers on the Lower/Arrivals Level at the Orange Zone. 
  • Roadrunner picks up passengers on the Lower/Arrivals Level at the Green Zone.

Taxicab and Fare Information

Taxis can be found curbside on the Lower/Arrival Level islands in front of each terminal under the yellow sign indicating Taxis. Passengers will be presented with a ticket stating typical fares to major destinations. Only authorized taxis with an official seal issued by City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation on each vehicle are permitted in the airport. It is illegal for any transportation services to solicit fares, and travelers using such services do so at their own risk.

Transportation Network Companies

Lyft, Inc., Opoli, and Rasier-CA, LLC (Uber) are authorized to provide pick-up services at LAX. Passengers can make a request once they are located on the terminal curbside.

Authorized Transportation Network Companies may drop-off and pick-up passengers on the Airport Upper/Departures Level only. The airport fee applies to both a drop-off trip and to a pick-up trip.

Signs that state “Ride Service Pick-Up” are positioned on the Upper/Departures Level to facilitate the meeting point. Always confirm that you are getting in the correct vehicle with the designated driver shown on the app.
