Due to construction, many of the ground transportation operations and loading areas have changed. Please click below for the latest locations and information.


There are many ways to make your trip to or from LAX easy and stress free. Please take a look at the list below to explore the different ways you can start or end your travels.



LAX Transportation Options



FlyAway® Nonstop Bus Service

The FlyAway nonstop bus service provides transportation between LAX and Union Station and Van Nuys. Due to COVID-19 impacts, the Hollywood and Long Beach routes are suspended. FlyAway buses drop off passengers on the Upper/Departures Level of each terminal. At LAX, passengers board these buses on the Lower/Arrivals Level in front of each terminal at the blue FlyAway sign. Each bus is marked with its service location. One-way fares are $9.75 each. Driving and Parking

All Central Terminal Area garages are open with the first 15 minutes free and a daily maximum fee of $60. LAX Economy Parking is located at 6100 W. 94th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90045, with a daily maximum fee of $35. Shuttle services is provided to and from LAX terminals. Stops for LAX Economy Parking are located at the PINK LAX Shuttle signs on the Lower/Arrivals Level in front of each terminal.

LAX Transportation

Free shuttle transportation is provided for terminal to terminal connections. Free shuttles transport to and from the terminals and the LAX City Bus Center, LAX Economy Parking, Metro C Line at Aviation Station, and LAX employee parking lots. Shuttle stops are located at the PINK LAX Shuttle signs on the Lower/Arrivals level in front of each terminal. For more information on the LAX Transportation shuttles, click here.

 



Picked-up or Dropped-off by Family/Friends

Dropping Off: For the health and safety of everyone, the airport itself is currently closed to everyone except those with valid tickets, people assisting ticketed passengers and airport personnel. Passengers can be dropped off at in the terminals on the upper level/departures area.

Picking Up: Passengers may be picked up on the outer curb on the lower level/arrivals level outside of baggage claim.

If picking up a passenger please use the 24-hour LAX Cell Phone Waiting Lot where motorists meeting arriving passengers can wait for free until passengers call to say they are ready to be picked up. The Cell Phone Lot is located on 96th St just east of Sepulveda Blvd, one-quarter mile west from the 96th Street Bridge entrance into LAX’s passenger terminal area. It is easily accessible from the north and east by motorists using La Tijera, Sepulveda, Manchester and Century Boulevards to access LAX.

Taxi Cabs

There are a variety of Taxi services that operate to and from LAX.

Arriving via Taxi: Taxis may drop passengers off at their terminals on the Upper/Departures Level.

Departing LAX via Taxi: Taxis can be picked up at three locations:

  1. At LAX-it next to Terminal 1 – Passengers may walk to or ride the free shuttle to LAX-it to hail a taxi. When you exit the terminal, either:
    • Walk, following the signs to the LAX-it lot; or
    • Ride the free LAX-it shuttle, which can be picked up on Lower/Arrivals Level at the inner curb outside of baggage claim areas at the green LAX-it signs.
  2. Inside Parking Structure 3 between Tom Bradley International Terminal (Terminal B) and Terminal 3 – for those passengers arriving at those two terminals
  3. At the far end of Terminal 7 outside of baggage claim – for passengers arriving at Terminals 7 and 8

Ride Apps

Lyft, Opoli, and Uber are the authorized providers for ride app services at LAX. If taking a ride app to LAX you can be dropped off directly at your terminal on the upper/departures level.

When leaving LAX, ride apps and taxis can be picked-up at the LAX-it lot next to Terminal 1. Guests can walk or take the free LAX-it shuttles to get to LAX-it.


To get to LAX-it to find Ride Apps (or Taxis) follow these easy steps:

  1. When you exit the terminal on the ground level (baggage claim level) you can walk to the LAX-it lot by Terminal 1 or ride the free LAX-it shuttle, which can be picked up on Lower/Arrivals Level at the inner curb outside of baggage claim areas at the green LAX-it signs.
  2. If you need assistance getting into or out of the shuttle ask the bus operator for help.
  3. Once on your way to the LAX-it lot, use your app to schedule your ride.

Rental Cars

Rental Car offices are located off airport, away from airline terminals. These companies meet arriving customers under the purple "Rental Car Shuttles" sign on the Lower/Arrivals Level islands outside baggage claim. Visit the rental car section of the LAX Ground Transportation page for details about available service providers.

 



Public Transportation

Several public transit providers serve LAX, including L.A. Metro, Culver City Bus Lines, Santa Monica Big Blue Bus, Torrance Transit, and Beach Cities Transit. (Click on transit provider for more information including routes, timetables and trip planners.) Passengers can pick up many bus lines from the LAX City Bus Center.

Free shuttle bus service is provided between Los Angeles International Airport terminals and the following public transit stations:

  • Lot South / LAX City Bus Center. Passengers going to the LAX City Bus Center should wait at the PINK LAX Shuttle sign on the Lower/Arrivals Level in front of each terminal and board the Lot South / LAX City Bus Center shuttle. Bus service does not operate from 2 A.M.-4 A.M. daily.
  • Metro C Line at Aviation Station (Green Line). Passengers going to the Aviation Station to connect to the C Line should wait at the PINK LAX Shuttle sign on the Lower/Arrivals Level in front of each terminal and board the “Metro C Line (Green Line)” Shuttle. Hotel Shuttles

Many major airport-area hotels provide courtesy transportation from LAX terminals. Stops for shuttles to hotels are located on the Upper/Departures Level identified by RED curbside pylons. You can get more information on these shuttle here

 



Scheduled Buses

The following scheduled service buses provide service from LAX to various parts of Los Angeles and some surrounding regions. Passengers are encouraged to contact the companies first for more information. Passengers for these scheduled bus services should wait under the orange "Shared Rides" signs on the Lower/Arrivals Level islands in front of each terminal. Always confirm you are getting in the correct operator's vehicle. Scheduled bus options are listed below, but passengers are encouraged to check current service availability ahead of time. Metro C Line (Green) – Terminal to Metro C Line Aviation Station Connection. Shuttles depart from C Line Aviation Station every 15-20 minutes daily, based on Metro C Line (Green) train schedule, with limited service 1:00 am to 4:00 am. LAX-it & Shuttle

LAX-it is the new way that guests arriving at LAX will connect to their Taxi, Lyft, Opoli, and Uber rides when leaving the airport. You can walk to LAX-it to connect with your ride or take a free shuttle. Terminals 1 and 7 are closest and are a 3 to 8 minute walk; the farthest terminals, T4 and T5 are about a 19 minute walk. The LAX-it area is located right next to Terminal 1. Free shuttles with wifi arrive at the LAX-it Stops on the first level outside of baggage claim.

Passengers who would like to take the free LAX-it shuttle bus should wait at the GREEN LAX-it sign on the Lower/Arrivals Level in front of each terminal.

Due to social distancing orders, luggage assistance is not currently available.


Notice for persons with Disabilities

Follow these easy steps to get to the LAX-it lot is quite simple:

  1. When you exit the terminal look for the green shuttle bus that says LAX-it on the side.
  2. If you need assistance, you may ask the shuttle bus driver for help. For persons with disabilities, they may help with luggage or assist the passenger in getting on or off the shuttle.
  3. If you will need assistance at LAX-it, please let your driver know when you board the bus, so they can call ahead.

Paratransit Users (Access Services)

If you are a registered Paratransit user who has requested pick up at the airport, it is possible that Access Services (Los Angeles area Paratransit service company) will send a taxi to pick you up. Paratransit taxis display the Access Services logo and are permitted to transport passengers from the inside curb of the passengers arrival terminal.

Due to COVID-19 impacts, March 28, 2020, Hollywood and Long Beach routes are discontinued. Union Station and Van Nuys schedules are changed. Check routes for current schedules.

Information on city bus services is available by telephone on the Information Display Board in the baggage claim area in each terminal. In addition, passengers can obtain local transit information by calling 323.GO.METRO or 323.466.3876.


Other public bus authorities serving LAX are Culver City Bus Lines, Santa Monica Big Blue Bus, Torrance Transit, and Beach Cities Transit. (Click on each bus line name for contact information.) Passengers can pick up these buses at the LAX City Bus Center.

 

Metro C Line (Green) at Aviation Station . Passengers for this shuttle bus service should wait at the PINK LAX Shuttle sign on the Lower/Arrivals Level in front of each terminal and board the “Metro Green Line” Shuttle. Rental Car offices are located off airport, away from airline terminals. The following rental car companies are authorized to pick-up and drop-off their customers at the airline terminals using courtesy shuttles. These companies meet arriving customers under the purple Rental Car Shuttles sign on the Lower/Arrivals Level islands outside baggage claim.



On June 20, 2019, the Board of Airport Commissioners adopted Resolution 26798 authorizing the collection of an alternative Customer Facility Charge of $9.00 per day for up to 5 days at LAX for rental car transactions on behalf of the airport to fund costs associated with the financing, design and construction of a consolidated rental facility and financing, design, construction and operation of a common transportation system serving the facility. To comply with the requirements of California Government Code Sections 50474.21, 50474.22 and 50474.3, LAWA completed an independent audit. The auditor’s report can be found here.

Remote Rental Car Depot Service

The following rental car companies are required to meet customers at the Remote Rental Car Depot located at the intersection of Century and Airport Boulevards. Customers should wait at the PINK LAX Shuttle sign on the Lower/Arrivals Level in front of each terminal and board the “Metro Connector” Shuttle.

Scheduled Buses

The following scheduled service buses provide service from LAX to various parts of Los Angeles and some surrounding regions. Passengers are encouraged to contact the companies first for more information. Passengers for these scheduled bus services should wait under the ORANGE Shared Rides signs on the Lower/Arrivals Level in front of each terminal. Always confirm you are getting in the correct operator’s vehicle.

  • Antelope Valley Airport Express - Travels to Newhall, Palmdale and Lancaster in the Antelope Valley, with Lancaster (the furthest location) approximately 75 miles (121 kilometers) north of LAX.
  • Central Coast Shuttle - Travels to the Central Coast area including: Ventura, Santa Barbara, Buellton, and Santa Maria. For more information, Please call 1-800-470-8818 or visit their website at www.cclax.com.
  • Mickey's Space Ship Shuttle- Universal Studios, Knotts Berry Farm, all Disneyland Anaheim resort hotels, O.C.   • reLAXsan (San Diego) - Travels to San Diego County, with stops in Oceanside, Sorrento Valley, and Old Town. The drive time from the airport to these areas usually takes between two and three hours. For more information please call (858) 430-8440 or visit their website gorelaxsan.com.
  • Santa Barbara Airbus - Travels to Santa Barbara, plus nearby Goleta and Carpinteria. The drive to these areas (located northwest of LAX, along the sea coast) from  the airport usually takes  between one and a half to  two hours.

  • Ventura County Airporter - Travels to Ventura and Oxnard, on the sea coast about one hour to one hour and a half northwest of LAX.




Taxis

Taxi drop-offs occur on the Upper/Departures Level terminal curbs.


Taxis can be picked up at three locations:

  • At LAX-it next to Terminal 1 – Passengers may walk or ride the free convenient shuttle to LAX-it to hail a taxi. Passengers should wait at the GREEN LAX-it signs on the Lower/Arrivals Level in front of each terminal.

    Getting a taxi at the LAX-it lot is simple. Just follow these easy steps:
  1. When you exit the terminal, either:
    1. Walk, following the signs to the LAX-it lot; or
    2. Ride the fast and free LAX-it shuttle, which arrives every 3 to 5 minutes and can be picked up on Lower/Arrivals Level at the inner curb outside of baggage claim areas under the green signs.
  2. If you need assistance boarding or loading your luggage, there are persons wearing green vests outside each terminal ready to help you.
  3. If you need special assistance at the LAX-it lot, let the driver know when you board the bus. The driver will call ahead and someone will be waiting to assist you to your taxi when you arrive.
  • Inside Parking Structure 3 between Tom Bradley International Terminal (Terminal B) and Terminal 3 – for those passengers arriving at those two terminals
  • At the far end of Terminal 7 outside of baggage claim – for passengers arriving at Terminals 7 and 8

 

 



Authorized taxicab companies serving LAX

Only authorized taxis with an official seal issued by City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation on each vehicle are permitted to pick up at the airport.

Accessible Taxicab

If you need an accessible taxicab, call taxi dispatch (310-646-9177). An accessible taxicab will be dispatched from the holding lot to the LAX Central Terminal Area nearest ACCESS location indicated by the DARK BLUE sign at terminal curbside. Service Animals are allowed in taxis at no extra charge.


Paratransit Users (Access Services)

If you are a registered Paratransit user who has requested pick up at the airport, it is possible that Access Services (Los Angeles area Paratransit service company) will send a taxi to pick you up. Paratransit taxis display the Access Services logo and are permitted to transport passengers from the inside curb of the passengers arrival terminal.

Ride App/Transportation Network Companies

Lyft, Opoli, and Uber are the authorized providers for ride app services at LAX. If taking a ride app to LAX you can be dropped off directly at your terminal on the upper/departures level.

When leaving LAX, ride apps and taxis can be picked-up at the LAX-it lot next to Terminal 1. Guests can walk or take the free LAX-it shuttles to get to LAX-it.


To get to LAX-it to find Ride Apps (or Taxis) follow these easy steps:

  1. When you exit the terminal on the ground level (baggage claim level) you can walk to the LAX-it lot by Terminal 1 or ride the free LAX-it shuttle, which can be picked up on Lower/Arrivals Level at the inner curb outside of baggage claim areas at the green LAX-it signs.
  2. If you need assistance getting into or out of the shuttle ask the bus operator for help.
  3. Once on your way to the LAX-it lot, use your app to schedule your ride.

The airport fee applies to both a drop-off trip and to a pick-up trip.

Always confirm that you are getting in the correct vehicle with the designated driver shown on the app.





Hours of Operation

Entry to LAX is only allowed for airline passengers and persons meeting, accompanying or assisting them, and airport personnel whose employment requires their presence. LAX is closed to the general public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Opening hours for passengers and personnel vary between terminals; persons are advised to check with their airline or employer.

The closure applies to all areas and buildings shown in the map below.

Persons violating the closure are subject to arrest and misdemeanor prosecution (Los Angeles Municipal Code Section 171.02(n)).
